Preview: A visit to Heartbeat Gallery in Sheffield

Posted on

I’m looking forward to visiting Heartbeat Gallery in Sheffield later this week to review their current exhibition of Ben Payne’s work.

This gallery is a delightful space in which to view art: it’s well lit, spacious and within easy reach of the city centre. The welcome from gallery directors Helen McIntosh and Thanasis Andronikos is never anything less than friendly and warm. It should be a good day!

Ben Payne’s work itself looks interesting. A large number of paintings are on display, including many that were produced especially for this show. The focus is on landscape and floral paintings. I am particularly looking forward to seeing Payne’s use of colour and texture in these areas. The palette certainly seems to be vibrant.

I will be posting my review of the exhibition on my Art Review page soon.
